First, he grips the pants and gets the underhook, and when his opponent tries to lift him with the butterfly hook, he keeps his hand on the back rather than posting on the mat. While he is lifted off the mat, he breaks his hip, turning it to the outside and freeing his leg from the butterfly hook. At this point, his opponent locked the half guard. Here he uses his forearm to open the neck, and slides his other collar grip in place with the thumb inside again. He now connects his wrists with the forearm across the throat, and drops his forehead to the mat as he tightens the choke.

After attempting the previously shown half guard pass to mount, Xande now shows the variation he was able to use against his opponent. From the quarter guard with the cross collar grip, Xande's opponent bumped him and turned on his side to defend. Xande used his knee on the stomach to keep pressure, swam his arm in for the underhook, and his knee now dropped to the mat in a knee cut position. However, Xande was looking for the mount, so he made the cross face grip, turned his hip in and slid his knee back across the stomach. Now he forces his knee down and opens his elbow to control his opponent's arm. Using his free foot, he blocks the leg and helps free his other foot to mount his opponent.

Xande keeps the arm hugged tight to his body, and he leans back to create the space to slide his other arm underneath. Now he switches his hands, grabs his opponent's wrist, and then his own, locking the Kimura grip. His opponent is now defending by holding his hands tight together, so Xande shows two options to break his grip and finish. First, he kicks his leg straight as he pulls the arm back hard with his body, breaking the grip. Another option is to lower his head to the mat, roll over his shoulder, and finish with his leg on top of the head, where he can easily break the grip and finish.
