Xande has passed the guard and has his opponent mounted. Now it's time to go for his all time favorite choke. Pulling the lapel down, Xande slides his other hand down the neck, with his thumb inside the collar and four fingers outside. Next he traps the elbow and slides to the technical mount position. Here he uses his forearm to open the neck, and slides his other collar grip in place with the thumb inside again. He now connects his wrists with the forearm across the throat, and drops his forehead to the mat as he tightens the choke.

Saulo has back control, and his opponent starts to escape by laying his back on his Saulo's leg. The first thing Saulo does is reach across to make a grip on the collar, and then his top leg goes across the body with his foot finding leverage in his opponent's hip. From here, he pulls himself up to the mount, trapping his opponent's arm between his elbow and body. Next, his free hand grabs the collar across the neck, with his thumb in, and he leans forward to use his body pressure to help finish the choke.

From the mount, Giva gives his opponent a little room on one side to turn his body to try to escape. Giva squeezes his knees and traps him on his side, then swims his arm underneath the wrist and grabs his own lapel. The first option to finish is by simply stepping his leg behind the back and applying pressure, twisting the arm. It's likely his opponent will defend this, so his second option is to lay forward over his opponent, extending the arm as he goes belly down. Here he can put pressure with his hips to finish the straight armbar.

Xande now talks about when your opponent uses the grapevine while mounting you, which happens when he drops all his weight in his hips and ties up your legs with his feet. The overall process is the same as the hip block escape, but he must address the grapevine. His first step is to bump his hips and get his frame in place on his opponent's hip. Now he can clear his legs of the grapevine by stretching one leg, bringing it around and using it to push his opponent's other hook off him. Now he can finish escaping the mount as shown before.
