In this lesson Saulo shows some possible threats from the inverted guard and teaches how to use a pass similar to a leg drag but instead with a grip on the hip. After dragging our opponent's hip back to the mat, we are in a much better position to pass without having to deal with the dangers of sweeps from the inverted guard.

The torreando (bullfighter) pass can take some time to build the necessary timing of reaction as it is a pass that requires you to feel and anticipate your opponent's movement and reaction to your movements. In this case we learn a variation to the torreando pass where your opponent is controlling with just one butterfly hook. Instead of backing away or trying to apply pressure to your opponent's frame, we simply change the angle of the hook with a simple pivot and stiff arm to pass straight to the knee on belly position.
