Now for the matrix arm lock, which Xande was able to finish after throwing all the previous attacks at Rustam. Xande has found himself settled at the side angle back position, reaching over and grabbing the armpit. This time, his opponent stands up to defend, so Xande posts his elbow on the mat to keep his hips up on his opponent. With his other hand, he lets go of the armpit and traps the arm to his chest. Now his posted arm grabs the near leg and he throws his leg over his opponent's head. From here, he forces his opponent to roll forward, and lands on his back where he can finish the arm lock.

Xande has the armbar set up and his opponent is defending by stacking him. Xande reaches his inside arm all the way across to the far leg, and pushes is off it, spinning himself underneath. He finishes his spin in the same position he ended up in the last technique, so once again he pulls the foot over his head, forcing his opponent to roll where he can finish the arm lock.

Xande has already dragged the arm across and is at his side angle pulling himself up to the back as he did before. His opponent is posted on both arms, so Xande lets go of the armpit and traps the near arm, hugging it to his chest, causing his opponent to flex and pull it away. Now Xande uses his bottom leg for leverage to bring his top leg over the head. From here, Xande rolls to his side toward the head. Sometimes he can submit from here, but he can also grab the near foot, pull it over and past his head, forcing his opponent to roll and land on his back, where Xande can finish the arm lock.

Continuing from his side angle closed guard in the last technique, Xande now reaches across to attack the far arm. His first attack is the traditional reverse armbar. He also can reach across to grab below the elbow, push down on the head with his forearm and pull the arm to get a shoulder lock. A common reaction for his opponent will be to drive back into Xande and try to posture up, giving Xande the opportunity to switch to his regular climbing arm lock.

Breaking down exactly how he set up his armbar on John Salter, Xande is breaking posture and throwing different attacks. He sits up on his opponent's hips, basing on forearm and reaching over the far shoulder. From here, John swam his head inside Xande's arm, allowing Xande to grab hold of it. Now Xande throws his arm between the legs and hooks the thigh as he pulls the head down and swings his legs up to trap the arm. To finish he lets go of the head to hug the arm, and throws his leg over the head where he can force the tap.

After breaking the posture, Xande is now ready to attack the arm, and here he breakdowns the climbing arm lock he used on John Salter. He can set it up a few ways, either step by step, or how he did in this fight, which was a quick raising of his hips. His leg on the side of the arm he is attacking is pinching tight with his calf pressing down on the shoulder with his knee pushing to the inside. His other leg is pressing down on his opponent's lat, controlling his posture and maintaining the distance, not allowing him to put pressure on Xande. From here, he can throw his leg over the head, and raise his hips to finish the arm lock.

Combining all the drills, Xande puts the cross choke in action. When his opponent smashes the shield, or steps over his leg, Xande shifts his head to the side and places his second choking grip. Now he uses the guard closing drills previously shown, and finishes the choke. In some situations, the neck is not open for Xande to grab the second choking grip right away. In these cases, he works the same technique to close his guard, and while he's closing the guard, he makes his second grip to finish the choke.

Xande has the cross collar grip is looking for the cross choke. His hand starts in the 12 o'clock position, and when he is ready to make his first choke grip, he turns it slightly to 1 o'clock, placing his wrist bone under the chin. Now his second hand comes over the shoulder, and grabs the back of the gi, mainly with his last three fingers, and his frame bone runs along side the neck. Another small detail is when he makes second grip and is ready to choke, his head moves across to that side just an inch or two, to get that extra leverage.

Leticia shows another common self defense situation when her attacker is in her guard choking her. She crosses her arms with one going under her attackers arm and cupping the other elbow, and her other arm reaches across to grab the shoulder. She climbs her legs over her attacker's shoulders and closes a high guard. Now she passes her leg over the head, grabs the wrist with both hands, and raises her hips off the ground to finish the armbar.

Again, Mario's opponent stands up while he has sleeve control, so he pushes off her shin to put his hip on her knee, and reaches inside the near leg. He uses his hips to bump her down with the muscle sweep. His opponent reacts by coming back to the top, and as she does, Mario throws his leg over her shoulder and locks the triangle. Now he grabs his shin to finish the choke, or he has the option for the armbar.

He opens his leg to on the side he's controlling the sleeve, escapes his hips, and is now in position to finish the armbar.

He reaches over the back and grabs the belt to keep her down, puts his foot on her hip and turns on his side. His hand on the belt now comes behind her neck, and under his other arm. Now he stretches his arms and opens his elbow to finish the choke.
