In this lesson we break down Rodolfo's pressure passing with the knee cross or knee slice pass. Rodolfo was able to neutralize Panza's guard with good grips on his leg and threatened Panza multiple times by transitioning from the knee cross to the esgrima pass, buttflop pass, and transition into the mount. Rodolfo utilizes heavy pressure in his passing game and we learn how he chains some of his passes together to make his knee slice pass more deadly. When taking your opponent's back with the near side hook, often times your opponent will beat you to the other side and block your far side hook from coming in leaving you in an awkward position on the back with only one hook. In this case, many people will continue to try to take their opponent's back but sometimes it's better to attack with a submission instead. In this lesson, Xande teaches how to transition to an armbar from the top turtle with one hook in.Add to Favorites 1440 Remove From Favorites 3898 days ago

Rico explains how to control the distance and attack your opponent from the z guard or half guard knee shield position with the rollover sweep or omoplata. Afterwards he explains that he switches between the knee shield, spider guard, butterfly guard, and classic open depending on the distance as well as whether his opponent is standing or on their knees. If your opponent is on both knees, a half spider or butterfly guard may make more sense while a classic open, spider guard, or de la riva guard will work more effectively against a standing opponent.
