Leonel hits his deep half guard sweep after his opponent cross faces him, as shown in the previous technique, and has established top position. He steps his knee up so that both of his opponent's legs are on top of his thigh. While still controlling the sleeve grip, his other arm wraps around the ankle to begin his foot lock attack, and he pulls the top leg across the bottom leg, and tucks his elbow in between. Now he steps his other leg so his knee is on the belly, and he sits back perpendicular, making sure to squeeze his knees the whole time as he finishes the foot lock.

Now Saulo is looking to pass Xande's open guard, and there three key points he focuses on. First, he makes sure not to stay right in the center of Xande's legs. Second, he looks to make Xande turn to one side or the other. Third, he doesn't let Xande place his feet on his hips. Once he is ready to make his move, Saulo steps to the side and pushes Xande's foot down, stuffing it between his legs. Here is where he can establish a solid base and has several passing options depending on Xande's reaction.

In this seminar, Saulo and Xande take turns teaching how to stop each other's game. First up is Saulo with his method of dealing with Xande's dangerous closed guard. He begins by grabbing both lapels and pulling Xande to him a little, just before he jumps to his feet and establishes a strong base, trapping Xande's legs with his elbows and thighs. When Xande goes to adjust his position, Saulo pushes down and steps back a little and to the side as much as he can, forcing the legs open. Now he pushes down on the legs and begins his passing.

Claudia is on top in her opponent's half guard, and because of her shoulder injury, she could not put a heavy cross face on her opponent. Instead she switches her base so that her hips are facing her opponent, and she traps the hips with her knee and forearm. If her opponent leaves her arm over Claudia's arm, Claudia raises her elbow up to the armpit, then swims her arm through and across the neck, where she can wrap it around the head and attack the Kata Gatame. If her opponent swims her arm under Claudia's arm, Claudia traps it with her elbow and grabs the wrist. From here, she can either attack the wrist lock, or make a Kimura grip and straighten the arm to submit with an arm lock.

Again from three quarter mount, Victor slides his body down and keeps his weight on his opponent's leg and looks to get the cross face. But this time his opponent is defending by staying on his side and blocking Victor's arm. Now Victor uses his stomach to trap the arm, and reaches around behind the head and grabs the wrist. Next he brings his free leg up so his knee is behind the shoulders, and he feeds his other hand through, connecting his Kimura grip. From here he just opens his knee and sits back, pulling his opponent on top of him before rolling to the other side, where he can throw on his second hook and establish back control.

Victor is on top of his opponent, almost in the mount position, except his foot is trapped, leaving him in three quarter mount. First he slides his free leg down, and sits his weight on his opponent's thighs. Now he puts his arm behind the head, grabbing the back of the gi, and connects his shoulder to the chest. Using his foot to push off the mat, Victor drives his weight toward the side of his free leg, and puts heavy pressure on his opponent and drives forward until he can free his foot and establish the mount.

From inside his opponent's half guard, Professor Kayan pulls his opponent's far lapel out of the belt, feeds it under the armpit and behind the neck to his other hand, establishing a strong cross face. Next he switches his hips so he is facing him, and then stands up to free his knee from the half guard, and cuts it across the thigh so his hips are facing away now. Now he changes the lapel grip to his other hand, with his wrist tight to the back of the neck. From here he has two options to finish. He can grab the gi at the shoulder and finish with a cross choke, or he can pull his opponent's far arm across his neck and drop his weight with his chest on the arm to finish the choke.

She reaches her arm underneath to grab the far collar, then posts her other hand on the mat next to her opponent and pulls her to the side, opening up the neck. Now she reaches across the neck to grab the other collar. Now she sits back and pulls her opponent with her, where she can bring her leg across the body and finish the choke.

Professor Rene's opponent is sitting up in butterfly guard with his arm across Rene's back, so his first line of defense is to grab the collar and drop his elbow down, preventing a good underhook. Next he posts his free arm far away on the mat, and his opponent reaches for the arm, looking to sweep. Rene now has space on the side to step his leg over into an S-mount position. From here, he pulls the arm up and swings his leg over the head to sit back and finish the armbar.
