In Xande's final match at Abu Dhabi Grand Slam, he pulled guard and started trying to work his sweeps. He ended up in a seated guard position where he went for a collar drag. His opponent reacted by stepping his leg and maintaining his standing position, so Xande instinctively pulled himself underneath his opponent. While controlling both legs, Xande swung one leg around his opponent's leg and put his foot on the hip, and his other foot hooked behind his butt. From here, Xande pulled the legs and pushed the hips to sweep his opponent and establish top position.

In his first fight in the absolute division, Xande fought Formiga, and knew he would pull guard, so Xande also pulled, landing in the double guard pull position. As Formiga pulled Xande's lapel, Xande grabbed his pants on the inside leg, stood up at an angle and immediately passed with the X-pass. Formiga turned away to try to escape, and Xande was able to control him and step over to the mount, where he set up other attacks.

Xande continues his review, now talking about the semi-finals fight that he lost, and goes over what he should have done to win his fight. Xande's opponent is attempting to pass with the over under grips, so Xande blocks the over arm, and drops his leg heavy on the other shoulder. He escapes his hips enough so he can sit up and grab his opponent's belt. From here, he reaches over the back to grab the lat, and forces his leg free, landing in the turtle position. In the fight, his opponent was able to sit out and restart the fight standing. What Xande should have done is make the seat belt grip and keep his chest heavy on his opponent, and look to work the crucifix while his leg was still being held.

In his second fight at World Masters, Xande attempted a basic hook sweep but his opponent defended by posting the leg. Xande used the space to get underneath his hips and set up the curu curu guard, with one foot in the growing and the other hooking behind the far knee. By stretching both his legs, he put his opponent on the mat, and while holding the leg, he stands up into base. His opponent also stood up, so Xande changed the leg to his other hand and grabbed his opponent's belt from behind, before spinning to bring him down and finish the sweep.

Now he brings his foot up to the rib cage, pulls the elbow and pinches his knee down to finish the armbar.

He extends his hook, comes to the top and smashes the legs, before windshield wiping his legs to pass to side control.

To start off his 2nd series with BJJ Library, JT Torres shows some sweeps from his well known De La Riva X-Guard. Starting in the De La Riva guard with an ankle and far sleeve grip, JT raises his hips and sinks in his deep De La Riva hook before bringing his second hook underneath and behind the thigh to set up the De La Riva X-Guard. Next he lets go of the ankle for the near side sleeve grip, then falls back and turns to sweep his opponent to his front. Now he underhooks the arm, frees his bottom hook and knee cuts over his opponent's leg to establish side control.
