While playing the collar guard, Xande is controlling his opponent's collar and sleeve, with one foot on the hip and one on the knee. In one motion, Xande pulls the arm across his body and closes his guard on the side of his opponent's body. The elbow of his arm controlling the collar is on the ground and he reaches across the back, grabbing the armpit. He uses the armpit grip and his top leg to pull himself on top of his opponent's back, and rolls through to end up in a good back take position.

Xande shows another effective choke he uses from the collar guard, the loop choke. Already with his collar grip, Xande grabs the back of his opponent's head and shoves it under his armpit, making sure he drops the weight of his shoulder down. Blocking the far side arm, Xande rolls to his back, placing his head in the hole between their bodies. From here, he grabs the other arm for leverage and finishes the choke. If his opponent rolls, he can roll with him and finish the choke.Add to Favorites 1490 Remove From Favorites 3285 days ago

In this series, Xande shows some of the positions he showed during his recent seminars in Europe, and focuses on his classic collar guard. Xande first sets up his collar guard with a cross grip on the lapel with the back of his hand on his opponent's neck, and his other hand grips the sleeve. Both of Xande's feet are on his opponent's hips, one as the knee shield and the other to push off and control the distance. Using these grips, Xande shows how he can keep control of his opponent as he tries to move side to side around Xande's guard.Add to Favorites 1222 Remove From Favorites 3295 days ago
