He uses his hips knock his opponent down, and rotates in, immediately looking to attack the foot. Using a rear naked choke like grip, he applies pressure and torque on the heel to force the submission.

In this technique, Tex has gotten to the calf slicer, but for whatever reason he is unable to finish it, so he decides to go for the back. First he rolls his opponent to the side and releases his calf slicer lock. He gets into a crab ride position, then places his twister hook to kick the hips down and get a solid back control.

Now from 50/50 guard, when Tex goes for the heel hook, his opponent turns out to escape. As he turns, Tex traps the leg between his calf and hamstring, and while behind his opponent, he reaches around the waist to pull himself tight, forcing the tap. He also shows a variation where he can flatten his opponent and get on top to finish the submission.

Using the same inverting spin from the closed guard, Tex grabs the foot and locks down his heel hook control with his arm. His outside leg goes across and he steps his feet on the far leg to prevent his opponent from turning to escape. Again, it's key that he pinches his legs together as he cranks the heel to finish the submission.

Starting from closed guard, Tex inverts the same as before to go for the kneebar, but his opponent turns into him and they end up in the 50/50 guard. If his opponent is hiding his foot by locking a triangle, Tex lifts the top leg up and places it on his shoulder, giving him access to the foot he wants to attack. Now he isolates the heel with his arm, and pinches both legs together while his feet are on the hip. Once he cranks the heel from here, his opponent submits immediately.

First off is a kneebar set up from the closed guard, where he inverts to get underneath his opponent and push him away with his feet. With the leg hugged to his chest, he figure four locks his legs around the leg and applies pressure to finish the kneebar.
